Hurricanes are not fun...

video
I was going through all my CD's with photos on them and came across all these photos... the first few photos are of Hurricane Frances and then there is Hurricane Jeanne about 2 weeks later... the reason for this is people saying (about Hurricanes) how they would love to come and be in one cause they love storms... so do I... just depends on the strength of the storm... so, think again if you want to be in a hurricane... as you can see... there is some pictures of our house after Jeanne came through... what I never shown was the water that came through the wall, the window that blew out and the water leaking through the roof... then the following 5 days after Jeanne when we had to use a generator for the power and only ate sandwiches etc cause of no power... at night you could see the white flashes outside that were the transformers blowing... at least there was no computer - we actually read books etc and we did borrow a dial up phone (you have the land line for that) as all other phones were out of use... I find when we get winds this strong I put on my iPod and sit in the laundry which is in the middle of the house and you can't hear a thing...

When I was a kid I lived for 4 years in an island in the Indian ocean. We had hurricanes a few times a year too. I remember packing groceries with my mom at the supermarket and this guy buying 10 bottles of rum just in case lol
and helping my dad putting up huge wooden panels on the windows. For 2 or 3 days we would just be playing and snuggling. The crazy stuff was to look at the TV: they would show a map of the island and the trajectory of the storm...scary!
impressive pics.
Hoping this storm season won't be too bad.

I love storms but I never want to experience a hurricane.

You have great pics of the aftermath. Great slide show too!

Ok I live in wonderful hurricane Fl too-but I have to say love the picture with the truck and the writing on the back-made me laugh after two days of some not so nice weather with four kids running around the house-we are ready for sunshine!

Storms are the worst....we just had a terrible one rip through our area last night.....I grabbed the kids and the dog and went to the basement for fear that a tornado was coming......I will be posting some pics later tonight!

Wow.. those pictures. We just finished living in Florida for a year and I figured we would experience one, but we didn't. Be safe this season and hopefully it will be a slow season like last year.

I am done with hurricanes. Hurricane Wilma destroyed my condo, our belongings, my new van, our car, and we had nowhere to go. It wiped out our savings and it took a year to get paid by the insurances and rebuild. We had no power, water, phones, cell service for over three weeks, and we were the lucky ones. We were homeless and FEMA was a waste of a phone call. We could not rent a car for 3 months because none were available. We could not get our cars fixed for 6 months because there was a backup and no glass. We had to threaten the insurance company and report them to the state for the second year in a row. Yeah, we had damage with Charlie and Francis too. Irene's flooding ruined my car along with everyone elses. We even survived Andrew. But Wilma devastated us. We love to visit, but we will never move back to Florida again.

I can definitely say that I have no desire to be in a hurricane.
No way!

Ugh, I can honestly say that I have NO desire to ever witness another hurricane...we live in Tornado Alley and once lived in N & S Carolina....just not fun at times.

Hope this hurricane season is blissfully uneventful for you and your family!

Did you get anything from Charley in August '04? That was the worst one for us in Orlando. Our neighborhood suffered a lot of damage, but for some reason, our house didn't. Yes, folks come on down if you love storms. I just hope you like being without power for a week in the sweltering Florida heat in August -LOL!
Take care,

Fliss, we were living in Florida the year of Charlie and Jeanne and a couple of others. We were far enough inland (Lakeland) where we missed the brunt of it. But coming from Arkansas originally, give me a hurricane over a tornado anyday. At least you get a warning with plenty of notice for a hurricane. Tornados scare the beejeebies out of me. Love ya friend.
